BUC (SCW/EXW) Vaughan is a native of Port Orchard, WA. He enlisted and reported to Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, IL September 19th, 2000.

November of 2000, he attended Builder “A” school in Gulfport, MS, where he graduated with Honors.  He received orders to Naval Mobile Construction Battalion (NMCB) ONE in Gulfport, MS April 2001 where he advanced to BU2 and made four deployments; including Guam, Okinawa, Sicily, and Iraq in support of OIF III. He served as crewmember, project safety, crew-leader, project supervisor, Seabee Engineer Reconnaissance Team (SERT) lead .50 Cal gunner, vehicle commander, fire-team leader, squad leader, and platoon commander

In July 2006, he attended 9502 Journeyman Instructor Training “C” school and transferred to the 20th Seabee Readiness Group (SRG) in Gulfport, MS. He advanced to BU1 in 2007 serving as an instructor assigned to R-75 teaching weapons/tactics and attaining the Master Training Specialist (MTS) qualification.

In September 2009, he attended 5501 CONREP (Quality Control/Quality Assurance) “C” school; graduated with honors and transferred to NMCB Seven in Gulfport, MS, where he completed two deployments. The first being 11 months was split between Operation Unified Response in Haiti and Continuing Promise 2010 throughout SOUTHCOM. The second was to Afghanistan in support of OEF.  In 2011 he completed his third “C” school, 6021 Construction Safety Standards. He has served as Air Detachment LPO, Safety/Quality Control, 3rd Platoon Commander, Battalion Command Fitness Leader, and Battalion Safety Officer.  He advanced to Chief Petty Officer in 2012 and assisted the decommissioning NMCB Seven. 

In September 2012, he received orders to the 20th Seabee Readiness Group and assigned to R73/CCCT as the Water Well Chief.  As the 20th SRG and 22 NCR merged to Naval Construction Group TWO (NCG 2), Chief Vaughan was assigned to the Future Operations Department (N35) and served as the Global Force Management-(GFM)/Readiness-Chief/Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QC) Chief and Immediate Superior In Command; Command Managed Equal Opportunity Manager.

In November 2015, Chief transferred to NMCB Eleven and has served as the Charlie Company Operations’ Chief (C3), Charlie Company SEA, (C5), and Convoy Security Element AOIC/Convoy Commander.  Deployment to PACOM; served as an QCM/Safety/Engineering Technician for NAVFAC Marianas, GUAM.  Deployment to EUCOM; Served as DET Poland Assistant Officer In Charge (AOIC) constructing Apache/Blackhawk helicopter pads in support of the European Defense Initiative (EDI).

In December of 2018 he accepted orders to Tinker AFB and served as the Facilities Division Officer/Chief overseeing 100 personnel, and was responsible for the sustainment of 22 buildings, 5 hangar bays, 2 barracks, 1 Alert facility and new construction projects totaling $31.7M.  In September 2022 Chief Vaughan retired from Active Duty Naval Service culminating 22 years of honest and faithful service
